I would like to this opportunity to welcome you all to our great country Kenya and to thank the organizers, Kenya Embassy in Rome, all the agencies and government officials who have worked tirelessly to make this visit a success.  I hope that interactions and exchange of information on investments and business opportunities will be of mutual interest to both our countries.

I would also like to highlight the main objectives of this visit which are to:

• Seek for investment and business opportunities in the best investment and business locations in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Meet respective business persons in order to discuss the possibilities for cooperation and joint ventures.
• Network with respective business persons in both countries.

Kenya is the economic, financial and logistics Hub and is the gateway to markets in the East and Central Africa with a reach of 470 million people, it is the preferred investment destination in Africa. Kenya presents unique investment opportunities in various sectors i.e. Tourism, Agriculture, Wholesale and Retail Trade, Manufacturing, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT)/ Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), financial services, Transport and Infrastructure development, Mining, Energy and in so many other areas.

Ladies and gentlemen;

According to the doing business report, The EAC It has been among the fastest growing regional blocs in Africa in the past decade and has made much progress in harmonizing national policies in different areas: many good regulatory practices can be found, especially in the areas of starting a business, getting credit and protecting investors.

I take this opportunity to assure you of the sound policies, micro and macroeconomic policies, sound monetary and fiscal policies regimes that have created a friendly economic environment for investment. These measures coupled with limited government interference and with a strong and stable industrial base have made Kenya a regional preferred investment destination.

Compared with other African countries, Kenya has a sound economic base and a well-trained workforce. Economic growth has recently risen to over 4%. By developing agriculture and opening up new markets, it could decrease its dependency on the world market products tea and coffee. And by improving security and the infrastructure, the tourist sector could also be expanded.

Distinguished guests;

There are various opportunities available for investment in Kenya and please don’t hesitate to ask the officials that you will be having discussions with for the details.

• In agriculture where capacity is required to boost production by improving irrigation systems better inputs and application of advanced technologies

• Value-addition of agricultural products,
